Female voters are set to outnumber their male counterparts in the Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) polls in Aizwal in Mizoram.

More than 2.18 lakh voters will cast their votes in the polls that are scheduled to be held this year.

However, the date is yet to be finalized due to the uncertainty residing in the state because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, said election officials.

According to a draft roll published on Tuesday, female voters have outnumbered their male counterparts by 15,520 this time.

Of the total 2,18,870 voters in 19 municipal wards in the Aizwal municipal area,  1,17,195 female voters will cast their votes in the upcoming municipal polls.

The draft electoral rolls were prepared for special summary revision of voters’ lists in view of the upcoming AMC polls, an official said.

The period date for filing claim and objection has been fixed between December 2-5.
