The Mizoram government on Monday decided to impose an eight-day lockdown in the Aizwal Municipal Corporation area in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases.
The lockdown will come into force from 4:30 am on Tuesday and will continue till November 3 at 4:30 am.
The government took the decision during a meeting attended by state health minister R.Lalthangliana and home minister Pu Lalchamliana under the leadership of chief minister Zoramthanga.
State Information and Public Relations department tweeted to inform regarding the lockdown, “An emergency meeting under the chairmanship of Health Minister and Home Minister held today at MINECO decided to impose lockdown within the AMC area, after obtaining due consent from the Chief Minister. The lockdown will begin at 4:30 am tomorrow till 4:30 am on 3rd Nov 2020.”

The total number of positive cases stands at 2,493, active cases at 290 while 2,203 people have been discharged so far in the state.
No fatalities due to the disease were reported in Mizoram till Sunday.
