Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga on Thursday said the state will usher in speedy development if the government, churches and all the civil societies work together in achieving that goal.
Zoramthanga said this while addressing the 72nd general conference of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) at N. Vanlaiphai village in Serchhip district.

“The Mizo people are destined by God to shine everywhere, for, their upbringing is in a regimented society, who, are obedient to their leaders,” said the Mizoram CM.
“We the Mizo people have the habit of being pessimistic and degrading ourselves. But outsiders, when they come to visit Mizoram, often see the good sides of our people,” he said.
He added, “The Mizo people should also learn to think positively and shun all negative thoughts.”

Zoramthanga informed, “There are still a lot many good people who work tirelessly for the progress and betterment of the state.
The Mizoram CM said his appeal to all denizens is to make use of Mizoram “being a peaceful state, exploit the various potentials of it in order to usher in development”.
He lauded the YMA for its outstanding contribution towards safeguarding the state and the Mizo society and handed over Rs 1 lakh to the Association in appreciation for their work.
Beginning last Tuesday, a three-day YMA’s general conference concluded on Thursday night with the Association unanimously adopting a ‘massive education drive’ as its year-long declaration.
The YMA in its general conference on Thursday re-elected Vanlalruata as the president of the Central YMA, while present general secretary Lalhmachhuana was newly elected as the vice president and Prof. Lalnuntluanga was elected as the new general secretary of the Central YMA.
