Amit Shah, who arrived in Mizoram on Saturday for the first time after taking charge as the union home minister, inaugurated the North East Handloom & Handicraft Exhibition 2019 at Aizawl.
While speaking at the exhibition, union home minister Shah said the BJP-led government at the Centre has doubled the development projects in Mizoram compared to what was done for the state by the Congress-led UPA government.

The North East Handloom & Handicraft Exhibition 2019 has been organized by the North East Council (NEC).
During his speech, Amit Shah, who is also the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), assured the people of Mizoram that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government would extend every possible support to the Mizoram government for the development of the northeastern state.

Informing about Amit Shah’s the day-long Mizoram, the union minister of state (independent charge) for development of northeastern region (DoNER), Dr Jitendra Singh, on his Twitter handle said, “Sh @AmitShah, during his first visit to #Mizoram as Home Minister, inaugurated North East Handloom & Handicraft Exhibition 2019.”
“He assured the people of Mizoram, every possible support from the Modi Government, for the development of the State,” Dr Singh further tweeted.

Amit Shah, who is the chairman of North Eastern Council (NEC), also had a meeting with Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga. During the meeting, Mizoram governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi and Assam finance minister & North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma were also present.
Sharing a few images of Amit Shah’s arrival at Aizawl on his Twitter handle, Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga expressed his happiness at Shah’s visit to the state.

During a meeting with union home minister Shah, Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga conveyed the need of the people of the state.
In the meeting, Amit Shah said he is keen to uplift the socio-economic status of Mizoram.
