The Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles on Wednesday conducted a sensitization programme on Covid-19 at the John Williams Hospital and District Hospital in Lunglei in Mizoram.
During the programme a team of Assam Rifles personnel interacted with the people arriving at the hospital and educated them on the precautions they need to take to prevent being infected by the novel coronavirus.
The team appealed to the public to strictly adhere to Covid-19 protocols like proper wearing of masks, regular washing of hands, using hand sanitizers and maintaining social distancing.
People were also advised to get themselves vaccinated against Covid-19.
The Assam Rifles team also distributed medicines and other medical products among the people on the occasion.
A total of nine people have tested positive for Covid-19 during the past 24 hours in Mizoram, taking the state’s tally to 4,500.

The state at present has 44 active cases, while 4,445 people have recovered from the virus.
The disease has claimed 11 lives in the state.
Meanwhile, the Mizoram government has decided to pay an ex-gratia payment of Rs 20 lakh each to local volunteers if they die due to novel coronavirus.
These voluntary task forces played important roles when the pandemic was at its peak last year by aiding the state government in curtailing the spread of Covid-19.
