The Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles on Wednesday recovered 75 grams of heroin at HuntharVeng in Mizoram’s Aizawl.
The heroin was seized during an operation carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Mizoram excise and narcotics department based on specific information.

Excise and narcotics department officials also detained five individuals in connection with the contraband recovered.

According to sources, the market value of the seized heroin is Rs 33,75,000.

The Mizoram police and the excise and narcotics department in collaboration with Assam Rifles have been routinely conducting such operations in Mizoram to stop cross-border smuggling of goods along the Indo-Myanmar international border in the state.
Assam Rifles jawans in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh police also apprehended a NSCN(R) cadre from Kangkho in Changlang district on April 5.
The joint team launched the manhunt after receiving information about the NSCN(R) cadre being in the area.
