The Lunglei Battalion of Headquarters 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) conducted ‘Run For Fun’ as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Parva in Mizoram.
The ‘Run For Fun’ was organised by the Lunglei Battalion of Assam Rifles on Wednesday.

“A total of 39 Assam Rifles and 23 BSF personnel participated in this event,” said a statement issued by the HQ IGAR (EAST).
“The aim is to encourage the people to take up fitness activities such as running and sports in their daily lives and get freedom from obesity, laziness, stress anxiety, diseases, etc.”
“It also gives a strong message to the troops and motivates them to be physical active and improve their health,” said the HQ IGAR (East) statement.

Even though the government has begun the Fit India movement, the defence forces have inculcated physical fitness from the days of training.
Fitness is an integral part of life serving in defence forces.
“Living up to the adage of force ‘Friends of The Hill People’ such initiatives in the remotest of locations provides the guidance of life changing measures to local populace and are always well appreciated by them,” the statement said.
