The Aizawl Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of 23 Sector Assam Rifles (Inspector General of Assam Rifles, East) provided assistance and platform to budding sports talents for getting admission in Assam Rifles Public School (ARPS) Laitkor.
The aim of the initiative is to foster and inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship and channelising the talents of youth by giving them a firm direction and comprehensive facilities.
“The programme was mainly intended for students who have already proven their talents in sports and students who have high potential to gleam in the sports field,” Assam Rifles said in a statement.
These students will appear in the screening test for selection into the elite institution of ARPS (Sports).
“The selected students will be admitted to ARPS Laitkor in Shillong which will horn their talent and provide them platform to showcase the same at higher level,” Assam Rifles said in a statement.
Aizawl Battalion of Assam Rifles provided transportation and necessary assistance to these promising youths.
A team consisting of 11 students including 8 boys and 3 girls with two coaches and three Assam Rifles officials proceeded to Shillong for the subject screening.
“Aizawl Battalion of Assam Rifles has always been committed to promoting sports culture in the region by organising such sports activities and recruitment for the budding sportsmen and women,” the statement said.
