According to reports, the people who had been trying to get their names in the electoral rolls mostly hails from Mizoram, Manipur and some of them are from Nepal.

These people mostly work on a casino in Goa named Casino Pride and stay in rented premises at Porvorim and Saligao.

Rauntak alleged that the director of the Casino Pride Group Srinivas Nayak has either taken the election process for granted or is trying to form a vote bank to contest in the elections.

“Perhaps he wants to hold election for Manipur and Mizoram in Goa. If these people get enrolled as voters here, then Goem, Goenkar, Goenkarponn will be rendered meaningless”, he was quoted as saying.

However, Nayak said that he is not involved with any political party and had run an awareness campaign launched by Election Commission in order to encourage young voters under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

As per reports, many of the casino workers later approached the electoral officer’s office for deletion of names from the electoral roll.
