Mizoram's Kolasib town
Three people died and two were injured after an Assam-registered car crashed into a parked truck in Kolasib.

Guwahati: Three people lost their lives and two others sustained injuries after a speeding car crashed into a stationary truck in Mizoram’s Kolasib town during the early hours of Thursday, police said.

The accident occurred at around 2 a.m. on National Highway-306, which connects Mizoram with Assam’s Silchar, as the Wagon R, bearing an Assam registration number, was travelling towards Aizawl.

According to police, the vehicle rammed into a truck parked along the roadside with such force that the truck was pushed more than 50 metres from its original position.

Rescue teams, assisted by volunteers from the Young Mizo Association (YMA), rushed to the spot and launched an operation. Two occupants of the car were pulled out alive and shifted for medical treatment.

The bodies of the three remaining occupants, who were trapped inside the mangled vehicle, were recovered at around 4:30 a.m., police added.
