The government of Mizoram is all set to double the quantum of old age pension, said, education minister, Lalchhandama Ralte, on Tuesday evening.
Addressing the celebration of international day of older persons at Durtlang locality in Aizawl, Ralte said, “The meeting of council of minister held on Monday last, agreed to enhance state’s contribution towards old age pension schemes under National Social Assistance Programme by 100 per cent.”
“Old age pension will be increased by double from the existing amount,” informed, the education minister, Ralte.
He added, “The importance and value of elderly people will grow day by day as they are one of the backbones of our society.”
Meanwhile, the meeting of council of ministers held on Monday evening last, also agreed upon to withhold the pay of government servants who fail to submit annual statement of immovable property returns in order to enhance transparency and check corruption.
The deadline for which has been fixed for December 31 next.
The meeting also agreed to raise the minimum age limit for superannuation of medical doctors from 60 to 62 and recruitment of 72 assistant professors under Rastriya Uchchattar Shikhsha Abhiyan (RUSA).
To enable re-employment of ex-servicemen under the State Government, the council of ministers also approved, the Mizoram Ex-Servicemen (Re-employment in civil posts) Rules, 2019 and also draft Mizoram Municipal Common Cadre Service Rules 2019, Mizoram Municipal Subordinate Service Rules 2019, draft Mizoram Subordinate Service Selection Board (Recruitment and Condition of Service) Rules, 2019 and the draft Mizoram Public Service Commission (Condition of Service) Regulations, 2019.
