Aizawl: Union Minister for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal on Tuesday held an interaction with NGO representatives and community leaders in Mamit district of western Mizoram, assuring the Centreโs continued support for the stateโs welfare and development, official sources said.
During the meeting, representatives of key civil society organisations, including the Young Mizo Association (YMA), Mizoram Upa Pawl, Mizoram Hmeichhia Insuihkhawm Pawl, Mizo Zirlai Pawl, and local village councils raised several public grievances, developmental issues and challenges faced by communities, the sources added.
Meghwal reiterated the Central Governmentโs commitment to supporting Mizoram and assured that all possible assistance would be extended whenever required. He also emphasised that strengthening governance and addressing public concerns remain top priorities.
The Union Minister appreciated the role of NGOs and community-based organisations in maintaining social harmony and contributing to development efforts in the state.
Earlier on Monday, Meghwal also reviewed ongoing development projects and welfare schemes in Mamit, the lone aspirational district of Mizoram, during a separate meeting with officials.
He called for better coordination among departments to speed up development and ensure effective delivery of welfare benefits, especially in remote areas. He also highlighted the need to enhance public awareness to improve participation in government programmes.
