The committee is of the view that if the Meitei Pangals are left behind in the development race, “Manipur cannot become properly developed”.

Meitei Pangals mainly live in Thoubal district of Manipur.

The Meitei Pangals or Manipuri Muslims are the minority group of people residing in Manipur.

They claim that they are indigenous people of Manipur.

The Meitei Pangal Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee in an earlier press conference had made it clear that their demand for inclusion of the Meitei Pangal community in the ST list is not to disturb any other community living in the state.
