Guwahati: Social activist Cherian Momin has appealed to Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Education Minister Rakkam Sangma to intervene in the long-standing issues plaguing the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Tura campus.

Momin in a letter sought reinstatement of the pro-vice-chancellor position to restore autonomy and decision-making authority.

He also called for equal pay for temporary and casual employees and improved campus infrastructure.

The infrastructure he mentioned included a functional canteen, transportation, water treatment facility and healthcare centre.

He said these measures would align with UGC norms and uphold employees’ fundamental rights, ensuring a better working environment for staff and students.
