Guwahati: The Congress has its first list of 39 contenders for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, spanning the Northeastern states of Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim.
Of the 39 nominees, 15 hail from the general category, while 24 represent SC/ST/minority communities.

“Our paramount objective is securing a significant number of Lok Sabha seats to challenge PM Modi in the forthcoming elections. We are steadfast in our endeavor to maximize the Congress party’s parliamentary presence,” remarked Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal following the disclosure of the candidates’ names.
The selection of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections was finalized during the Congress party’s Central Election Committee meeting convened in New Delhi on Thursday.
