A four-member delegation from four Indian universities, including the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Jamia Millia Islamia (JMU) from New Delhi have left for Turkey to develop academic collaboration with several front ranking Turkish universities and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with them.

Besides Mahbubul Hoque, the Chancellor of USTM, Prof Gous Mashkoor Khan from JNU, Prof Suhail Sabir from AMU and Prof Mohd Akhtar Siddiqui from JMI are representing USTM for signing of the MoUs.

The universities with whom USTM is signing MoUs in the next few days include Uskudar University, Istanbul; Fatih Sultan Mehmet University, Istanbul; Selcuk University, Konya. Several high level meetings have also been organized during the visit including the meeting with the President of Yunus Emre Institute, Ankara, Government of Turkey and meeting with the President of the Council of Higher Education (Turkish: Yüksekö?retim Kurulu, YÖK, equivalent to UGC) where there will be brainstorming discussion on promotion of education and research through mutual collaborations, stated an USTM press communiqué.

“This is one step forward in our journey towards achieving Mission Gold, i.e., making the University World Class by 2030. This is going to be a new addition to USTM’s International collaborations after Arizona State University, USA; Dhaka University, Bangladesh; University of Sharjah, UAE,” said USTM Chancellor M Hoque.
USTM has been working in the field of scientific research in collaboration with other institutions of national and international repute.
