Shillong: Robbers targeted the Umdihar Presbyterian Church in Meghalaya’s Ri Bhoi district for the fourth time in recent years.

The robbers stole money donated by the congregation and valuable items including an altar vase and musical instruments.

They even stole a sacred chalice, church authorities said.

This latest incident caused significant distress among church members, particularly women who lost their tithes.

Church elder RB Shadap reported the crime to local media and police.

They plan to seek help from the Dorbar Shnong, the traditional tribal council, to apprehend the culprits and prevent future occurrences.

An investigation is being carried out in connection with the incident.
