Based on specific information, a counter-insurgency operation was conducted by a joint team of West Garo Hills Police and 120 Bn CRPF at Mengotchigre village under Tikrikilla police station on the intervening night of September 9-10, 2021.

This was informed by the West Garo Hils superintendent of police.

โ€œDuring the operation, two live Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), weighing 3.25 kg of Class-II explosives and three detonators were recovered,โ€ the West Garo Hils superintendent of police said in a statement.

Accordingly, as per SOP, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) from 2nd MLP Bn. Goeragre disposed both IEDs in-situ, he said.

โ€œIn this connection, a case vide Tikrikilla PS Case No. 18(09)2021 under section 5 of the Explosive Substances Act 1908 has been registered and investigation is on,โ€ the West Garo Hills police chief said.

โ€œIf any person has any Information about the miscreants involved in this illegal act, they are requested to inform the local police,โ€ he said.

Their identity shall be kept secret and suitable reward shall be given, the district police chief said.
