While many anticipated that total lockdown would be extended in entire Shillong due to spread of Coronavirus, Deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday informed that total lockdown will not be extended in Shillong Agglomeration.
Normal life will resume from Thursday with strict protocols.
The three-day total lockdown will expire on Wednesday midnight.
“During the review meeting, we discussed the matter and after taking all inputs from the district administration and health department, it was decided that the total lockdown will not be extended,” Tynsong told reporters.
He, however, appealed the citizens of the state that though the lockdown is lifted from Wednesday midnight, people should not be complacent.
“All citizens of Shillong Agglomeration and citizens of the state as a whole to be vigilant and stay safe by adhering in totality the protocols to prevent the spread of Coronavirus,” Tynsong said.
He also informed that random testing would be conducted aggressively by using the antigen testing kit (ATK) in all the 71 clusters constituted by the state government across the state.
