Meghalaya reports 3 more COVID19 positive cases, state count rises to 43

Infected patients are returnees who recently arrived in the state from Delhi and Chennai

Meghalaya has registered three more COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 43.

Confirming the news, Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma in a tweet on Tuesday night said all the infected patients are returnees who recently arrived in the state from Delhi and Chennai.

The chief minister also informed that they are under quarantine and asymptomatic.

With the new cases, the total number of active COVID19 cases in Meghalaya stands at 29.

Earlier, a total of 13 COVID19 patients were recovered from the disease after treatment.

The deadly disease claimed the life of Meghalaya’s first COVID19 positive patient.

“Three more residents who returned to the State from Delhi and Chennai have tested positive for COVID19. All of them are under quarantine and are asymptomatic. Total Active cases 29. Total recovered 13,” chief minister Sangma tweeted.

Earlier, an elderly citizen, who came to Shillong from Ri Bhoi district, tested positive for COVID19.

This was confirmed by chief minister Sangma in an earlier tweet on Tuesday.

However, the infected person was isolated on his arrival in the city and is currently in Shillong.

He is stable and under the supervision of the health department.

“An elderly citizen who had come from Ri Bhoi District has tested positive for COViD19. The person was isolated on arrival and is presently in Shillong. Person is stable and under supervision,” Sangma said in his tweet.
