An assistant professor at the College of Community Science in Tura, Meghalaya was burnt alive in a road accident.

The assistant professor has been identified as Ferdinand Lyngdoh. He was 38 years old.

Notably, Lyngdoh was the brother of Congress MLA George Lyngdoh and son of former Meghalaya CM EK Mawlong.

Lyngdoh was travelling in his Bolero car, when it suddenly caught fire, resulting in his death.

Preliminary investigation suggest that either a short circuit or a fuel leak might have resulted in the fire, that ultimately claimed the professor’s life.

The incident took place along the Shillong-Tura road in Meghalaya on Saturday afternoon.
