Meghalaya Government on Tuesday opened toll free helpline numbers in the wake of the first COVID-19 positive case in the State.

The toll free emergency numbers include 108 of the Health department for all emergency services, 100 of police for all non-medical emergencies and 1070 of the State Emergency Operation Centre for all any kind of emergency related to COVID-19.

Meghalaya government had earlier on Monday activated helpline no 1070 for the citizens, who visited Bethany Hospital in Shillong in the last 20 days, due to heavy traffic in helpline no 108.

The State Government on Monday night urged the citizens to call 108 to get their names registered if they had visited Bethany Hospital on or after March 22 after a senior doctor of the private hospital tested positive for COVID-19.
