In a bizarre incident, a patient admitted to Bethany Hospital in Shillong, committed suicide early Tuesday morning.
The 26-year-old patient, who was admitted last week, jumped from the window of his ward in the hospital, sources said.
He is a resident of Mawkyrwat in South West Khasi hills district.

According to information, he died on the spot.
However, it was not known as to why the patient committed suicide.
The incident of suicide was reported after a senior health professional of the hospital tested COVID-19 positive on Monday.

The hospital was sealed by the authorities, and has been converted into a quarantine centre.
The East Khasi Hills district administration also clamped curfew for 48 hours across Shillong and adjoining areas from Tuesday morning.
