Meghalaya MLA Rupert Momin has donated Rs 50,000 towards Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the flood victims of the state.

NPP MLA Momin handed over a cheque of Rs 50,000 to chief minister Conrad Sanmga at the latter’s office in Shillong on Tuesday.

Meghalaya chief minister Sangma took to Twitter to express his gratitude to Kharkutta the MLA for his contribution.

“Thank you Hon’ble MLA Rupert Momin for your generous contribution of ?50000 towards Chief Minister’s Relief Fund,” chief minister Sangma said in a tweet.

Around 1.55 lakh people have been affected in the flood in the past week in Meghalaya and at least eight people have lost their lives.

Meghalaya home minister James K Sangma said that the deluge has displaced over 1 lakh people in the state.

Calling the flood situation a national disaster, chief minister Conrad Sangma had said that he had appealed to the federal government for help and hoped relief funds to flow in soon.
