Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs – Kiren Rijiju on Monday inaugurated a synthetic football ground at Sports Authority of India (SAI) training centre in Shillong.
Kiren Rijiju also inaugurated a synthetic athletic track and field ground at the SAI Training Centre.
During the programmed, Rijiju said, “Developing sporting infrastructure at the grassroot level is a step towards achieving sporting excellence in the long run”.
Rijiju further informed that the SAI Training Centre at Shillong will also be turned into a high altitude training camp.
“This beautiful SAI Training Centre at Shillong in Meghalaya will also be made a high altitude training camp,” Rijiju said.

Moreover, Rijiju also inaugurated a Khelo India School at the Assam Rifles Public School (ARPS) in Shillong.
The Khelo India School is the first ever sports school in the Northeast.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has thanked Kiren Rijiju for “upgrading sports infra in the Northeast”.
