Shillong: The Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Union (JNUSU) has expressed solidarity with the North-Eastern Hill University Students’ Union (NEHUSU) in Meghalaya condemning the university administration’s unresponsiveness to students’ demands.
Students at NEHU have been on hunger strike, with many hospitalized, protesting the lack of basic infrastructure, journals, hostels, and other essential facilities.

The JNUSU stated that Vice Chancellor Prabha Shankar Shukla has failed to address these concerns despite nearing the end of his third year in office.

A statement by the JNUSU also pointed out allegations of corruption, unaccountability and incompetent recruitment practices within the university.
The JNUSU criticized the current state of higher education under the Modi government, citing NEHU’s decline as a significant concern.
