In a latest political development, Meghalaya governor has approved the proposal of the State government to impose Administrator’s Rule in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).

The approval to bring the KHADC under the Governor’s Rule came days after the Governor approved the list of Executive Members submitted by the Chief Executive Member (CEM) Latiplang Kharkongor.

Sources said that the Governor has appointed deputy commissioner of East Khasi Hills district, Matsiewdor War Nongbri as the administrator of the KHADC.

The KHADC has witnessed political instability since November last year with members of the Council shifting sides frequently.

In fact the Meghalaya High Court had passed its judgement recognizing Kharkongor as the CEM of the KHADC and directed that the list of Executive Members submitted by Kharkongor to the Governor should be approved.
