KSU-non-tribal clash

The funeral of Lurshai Hynniewta, the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) leader who died at Ichamati, was held in Sohra on Monday.

On Friday, clashes erupted between non-tribals and KSU activists over CAA and ILP and Hynniewta was critically-injured.

A Meghalaya policeman was also injured in the clash

Approximately 2000 persons attended Hynniewta’s funeral, including Meghalaya sports minister Banteidor Lyngdoh, Umsing MLA Jason Lawlong, and Nongthymmai MDC Latiplang Kharkongor.

Even though no untoward incidents were reported, however, curfew was promulgated for another 12 hours till  6 am on Tuesday.

The curfew, which was relaxed for some time, was reimposed on Monday from 6 pm.

The ban on internet services, which was imposed on Friday, has not been resumed yet.
