The headache that Meghalaya deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong had when he looked after the labour department now has been passed on to the new minister, Sanbor Shullai.
Shullai, the BJP legislator from South Shillong constituency, who was sworn in as the new minister on July 27, has been given the labour, animal husbandry and veterinary, home (passport, prisons) and arts & culture portfolios.

Tynsong, who has a sigh of relief for having taken away the labour department, will now look after the health and family welfare, food and civil supplies, PWD (roads), housing, parliamentary affairs and cooperation departments.
Tynsong had to face activist Angela Rangad, who slammed the labour department for not releasing the financial assistance to all the labourers and vendors and petty traders and taxi drivers at Rs 2100 per person and Rs 5000 per persons for those labourers who have registered under the Building and Other Construction Workers Act, as promised by the state government last year.

Till July 28, deputy chief minister Tynsong was still dealing with the issue as Angela Rangad sat in front of the secretariat demanding the release of the financial assistance.
The deputy chief minister now has to look after the health and family welfare department which was earlier held by former minister, AL Hek.
Hek, one of the senior ministers in the MDA government, was removed by the BJP and in his place, Sanbor Shullai took oath as minister from the BJP.
Earlier, speculation was rife that Hek may be appointed by the BJP high command as the new BJP president in Meghalaya which will go to polls in 2023.
