Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma on Monday interacted with jackfruit entrepreneurs at Tura in West Garo Hills district to discuss various issues faced by them regarding cultivation, packaging and sale of the fruit.
During the occasion they appraised the chief minister of the various innovations that they have come up with to create a value chain for jackfruits.
Sangma assured them of all support from his government.
Meanwhile, the Meghalaya government under its ‘Jackfruit Mission’ aims to engage the services of various design houses, Indian Institute of Packaging, National Institute of Design and other experts to create a brand for the jackfruit.
The state government will make substantial investment in packing and creating a jackfruit brand and promotion of jackfruit products created by enterprises created under the mission.
