Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma has greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Christmas and wished them a ‘Merry Christmas’.

“Season’s Greeting to everyone! Christmas will be celebrated differently this year but may each of us find joy & warmth in the closeness of our family & dear ones. May the light of love, peace, happiness & abundance surround you this holiday season. Wishing you a #MerryChristmas,” Sangma tweeted.

Christmas is undoubtedly the most joyful holidays of the year, which is celebrated across the globe.

The Christmas festival is celebrated by all nationalities, ages and religions.

But amidst the bustle and preparation, the family and the presents, take a moment aside to reflect on the true reason for the holiday who is Jesus Christ.

Christmas is a time of spiritual reflection on the important foundations of the Christian faith. It is when Christians celebrate God’s greatest love to the world through the birth of Jesus Christ.

Christmas reminds us of what a gift Jesus is to the World, “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”- 2 Corinthians 9:15.

“For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and  His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”- Isaiah 9:6.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life- John 3:16.

“This year has been a tough year for all of us. The COVID-19 pandemic has crippled nations and Governance and put a strain on human spirit,” Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma said in his Christmas message.

“But it has also brought a blessing in disguise. Families and friends are able to spend more time with each other. The importance of family and relationships were acknowledged. The trust in mankind and generosity were also witnessed in many selfless contributions.

“I take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the Health, the Frontline Workers, the Administration, the Police Personnel and everyone who is working tirelessly and sacrificing their personal commitment to help others, thereby, restoring the faith in mankind which is also the essence of the spirit of Christmas,” chief minister Sangma said in his message.

He added: “I also take this opportunity to wish every single one of you a Blessed Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year. Thank You, Jai Hind and Mithela!”
