Meghalaya BJP on Saturday received a setback with the aspiring BJP ticket seeker Jan Arengh resigning from the party along with his supporters.

Jan Arengh was one of the aspiring BJP candidates from Williamnagar constituency. However, he was denied party ticket.

Santosh Marak is contesting as the BJP candidate from Williamnagar.

The former Meghalaya BJP member tendered his resignation along with his supporters to the state president, Shibun Lyngdoh citing personal grounds as the reason for the exit.

Arengh was earlier the district president of East Garo Hills though he was removed from the post early last year to be replaced by Rakesh N Marak.

The former BJP member is yet to decide on whether he will contest the upcoming elections as an independent or look to support any of the other candidates.
