In a joint operation, carried out by the Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) East Jaintia Hills and Khliehriat police, 91,000 Yaba/WY/Amphetamine tablets were seized.
The consignment of the narcotic tablets weighed approximately 8.6 kilograms with a street value of Rs. 2 crore, said East Jaintia Hills police in Meghalaya.
During the 20-hour long operation, the joint team also recovered 3,88,500 ml of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) from an Agartala bound truck at Khliehriat on Thursday morning.
“Two persons have been arrested in this regard namely Pritish Nath, son of Shrish Ch. Nath of East Tilthai under Panisagar police station in North Tripura and Rabindra Sinha, son of Chaliya Sinha of Fultali under Kailashahar PS in North Tripura,” informed Vivekanand Singh, superintendent of police, East Jaintia Hills district.
A case has been registered and the investigation is going on, the East Jaintia Hills police chief further said.

North Tripura superintendent police Bhanupada Chakraborty recently detained one Tinku Mazumder for smuggling Yaba tablets.
Mazumdar, a resident of Chandrapur area of Agartala, however, denied smuggling the contraband substance.
“I went to Silchar for treatment and there a person handed me this packet and asked me to deliver it to a person here in Tripura,” he said.
The police informed that they carried out the search based on a piece of secret information and detained Mazumdar from Dahrmanagar railway station.
“A total of 10,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 50 lakh were seized from the accused,” police informed.
Earlier this month, Tripura police destroyed 49,740 Yaba tablets, seized during different raids conducted in Sipahijala district in 2018.
