With an eye to maintain cleanliness, the West Garo Hills (WGH) district administration in Meghalaya has asked the liquor shops of the district to buy back the empty liquor bottles from the consumers.
West Garo Hills (WGH) Deputy Commissioner (Excise) Ram Singh on Thursday through a notification ordered the wine stores in the district to buy to buy back all the empty liquor bottles from the customers at the rate of Rs 2 for beer bottles and Rs 1 for liquor bottles with effect from July 30.
The DC informed that Inspector of Excise A Ch Momin has been nominated as a Nodal officer to coordinate with all the owners of the wine stores.
West Garo Hills administration has taken the steps after reports of littering the public places and picnic spots including tourist destinations in the district came to its notice.
