Maj Gen Bipin Bakshi relinquished his role as the Additional Director General of NCC Directorate, Northeast Region in Shillong on Saturday as he proceeds on superannuation after a glorious service of 38 years.
On his last day in service, Maj Gen Bakshi laid wreaths at the War Memorial in Shillong in the memory of the soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
During his present tenure in service as ADG of NCC Northeast Region, Maj Gen Bakshi pioneered the first-ever Brahmaputra Sailing Expedition which earned a mention in the Limca Book of Records 2019, said Guwahati-based defence PRO, Lt Col P. Khongsai.
“This was for the first time that a single NCC Directorate created a national record since the raising of NCC in 1948,” Khongsai added.
“The NCC Northeast contingent also won the Republic Day 2020 NCC Competition for the first time among 17 NCC Directorates of the country under his leadership,” defence PRO Khongsai said.
The NER Directorate in Shillong also fulfilled almost 100 per cent established vacancies for NCC cadets.
Maj Gen Bakshi handed over the duties and responsibilities to Brig RK Singh.
