Guwahati: The police in Meghalaya busted a major cross-border drug smuggling network operating between Nagaland, Manipur, and Meghalaya.
A Ri Bhoi district police team acting on intel inputs raided the residence of a “known” drug peddler, Kaisikamo, from Nagaland, located in Byrnihat.

The raid yielded eight soap boxes containing a yellowish-orange powder, later confirmed to be heroin, with a total weight of 92.42 grams.

Further investigation led to a collaborative effort between the Shillong ANTF and Rynjah Police Station.

This resulted in the arrest of two additional suspects identified as Tilak Rai (32) from Nongmynsong and a 36-year-old woman from Laipham Siphai, Imphal, Manipur.

Rai was identified as the intended recipient of the seized drugs, while the woman is suspected of financially backing the operation.
The police also confiscated Rs. 1,04,000 in cash, believed to be drug proceeds, along with three mobile phones thought to be used for coordinating their activities.
