Guwahati: A businessman in Cachar, Assam has been robbed of several lakhs by armed robbers on Saturday.

As per reports, the incident took place in the Jaipur area of Cachar, Assam.

The robbers allegedly dressed in camouflage were armed when they barged into the house of the businessman named Surat Chandra.

They tied up Chandra along with other members of the family before ransacking the entire house to grab any possible valuables.

According to Chadra’s statement to the police, there were around nine men who broke into the house.

A police source informed that as per the complaint and initial investigation, it has been found that the suspects fled with nearly Rs 10 lakh worth of jewellery and Rs 2 lakhs (estimated) in cash.

The police have begun an investigation into the incident.

The police are trying to find out if there was anyone known to Chandra behind the alleged robber.

No one was injured during the incident, a report stated.
