Curfew relaxed in Meghalaya amid stray violence

Curfew has been relaxed in Meghalaya capital Shillong and other places on Friday.

Curfew was relaxed in Police Bazaar areas bounded by Quiton Road to Umsohsun Bridge and Khyndai Lad to GS Road Butcher Road junction.

The relaxation of curfew in these areas on Friday has been given from 8 am till 4 pm.

Curfew in Bara Bazaar areas, Paltan Bazaar, Jeep Stand, Motphran and whole of Cantonment areas has been relaxed from 5 am to 1 pm.

In Sohra, curfew has been relaxed from 8 am to 6 pm.

Similarly, in Shella, the relaxation of curfew is from 10 am to 2 pm.

Meanwhile, unknown miscreants burnt down a truck at Majai under Shella police station in the wee hours of Friday.

The truck loaded with stone boulders was parked in the area.

The truck bearing registration number MZ-8085 belonged to one Ashok Chanda, a resident of Bholaganj.

According to information, unknown miscreants also assaulted two construction labourers at Lawsohtun Block-V under Laban police station on Thursday.

However, the labourers did not sustain serious injuries.

Meanwhile, security agencies are monitoring the law and order situation across the State.
