The decision has been taken as preventive measures to contain the spread of coronavirus in the state.

Earlier it was reported that the announcement on government order prohibiting plying of inter-district public transport vehicles left thousands of people stranded especially those coming from West Khasi Hills district on Monday.
All commercial vehicles coming from Nongstoin, the district headquarter of West Khasi Hills district were stopped at Mairang.
Many drivers and commuters blamed the district administration of West Khasi Hills district for not publicising the government’s order properly on Sunday night, which led to them facing an unnecessary problem.
“The insensitivity of the district administration has caused undue consequences to commuters of West Khasi hills. Most people did not know the order of DC,” said a commuter.
