The Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday claimed that it had apprehended a total of 176 persons in 2019 for illegally trying to enter India without valid documents.

Moreover, the paramilitary force had also claimed to seize more than 10000 cows at the Indo-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya in 2019.

“During the year till December 31, the BSF in Meghalaya seized 10,239 cattle heads worth Rs 16.86 crores,” a BSF spokesperson said.

He also added that the cows were mostly transported in trucks with their limbs and snouts tied.

Moreover, the BSF in a joint operation with the Meghalaya had also been successful in recovering 3665 yaba tablets from the possession of a number of persons.

It had also seized Rs 20 lakhs in cash, suspected to be parts of hawala transactions, from the ‘zero line’ during the past year.

It may be mentioned that that BSF troops have seized another 175 cattle heads along the Indo-Bangla border in Meghalaya on Decmeber 28, 2019.

This remarkable achievement of the BSF Meghalaya troops taking the total seizure to 699 cattle heads within the last week of December 2019.

The BSF Meghalaya Frontier in its continuous anti-smuggling drive has been foiling attempts of smugglers by making huge seizures on the international border.
