Meghalaya and Tripura are the two states from the Northeast which have topped the list of states in the country with the highest Covid19 recovery rates.
The Union Health Ministry on Saturday said Meghalaya recorded 89.1 per cent recovery rate while Tripura’s recovery rate stood at 78.6 per cent on the day.
The recovery rate in Meghalaya is the highest in the country while Rajasthan stood second with 78.8 pc recovery rate.
Tripura came third in the list prepared by the Union Health Ministry.
On Saturday, the total number of recovered Covid19 cases in India outnumbered the total active Covid19 cases.
The difference between recoveries and active cases is fast nearing 1 lakh.
Officials in the Union Health Ministry said the recovered cases have exceeded the active cases by 98,493 as of Saturday.
While the number of active cases stands at 1,97,387, the number of cured cases is 2,95,880, officials said.
“With this encouraging status, the recovery rate is touching 58.13 percent amongst Covid19 patients,” officials said.
The ministry has credited the development as a result of the collective, graded, preemptive and pro-active steps taken by the Indian government in tandem with the states and union territories for prevention of Covid19.
