Netting three goals, two players from Manipur helped India’s women football team thrash Turkmenistan 10-0 in the Turkish Women’s Cup played at Alanya in Turkey on Friday.

This was the second match of the Indian women’s team in the Turkish Women’s Cup in Alanya.

While forward 23-year-old Dangmei Grace from Manipur scored the maiden goal of the match in 7th minute, another player from Manipur, Sorokhaibam Ranjana Chanu scored two goals in 60th and 62nd minute of the game.

According to a sportskeeda match report, attacker Sanju from Alakhpur in Haryana was the highest scorer of the match, netting a hat-trick as Maymol Rocky’s team bounced back from the 0-1 defeat against Uzbekistan on Wednesday.

Sanju scored goals at 17th, 37th and 71st minute.

As per the report, while Anju Tamang and Sorokhaibam Ranjana Chanu got a brace each to their name, Dangmei Grace, Sumithra and Indumathi Kathiresan got a goal each to their name.

India started off with a bang as Dangmei put the eves in front at the 7th minute.

Around 10 minutes later, in 17th minute, it was Sanju who added yet another one, before making it 3-0 for India minutes before the half-time.

The Indian team, led by Indumathi Kathiresan, increased the tempo in the second half, as Dangmei Grace and Ranjana combined again to add two more goals.

The goal in the 71st minute marked the hat-trick for Sanju and also the third assist of the match for right-back/central mid-fielder Dalima Chhibber, who also plays for Indian Rush FC.

Sumithra, Anju and captain Indumathi added three more goals to take India to double figures in the game against Turkmenistan.

Now, India will face Romania on Sunday.
