Imphal: Manipur honoured the indomitable spirit, valour and selfless service of veterans on the occasion of the 10th Defence Forces Veterans’ Day celebrations.
Governor of Manipur Ajay Kumar Bhalla, on January 14, 2026, graced the 10th Armed Forces Veterans’ Day 2026 celebrations held at the Palace Auditorium, Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), Imphal. The Governor felicitated 53 distinguished and gallantry award-winning veterans as well as Veer Naris, acknowledging their exemplary service, courage and lifelong contribution to the nation.
In his address, the Governor highlighted the unwavering dedication of the Armed Forces and emphasised the nation’s enduring gratitude to its veterans, ex-servicemen and their families. He reiterated the government’s commitment to the welfare of serving personnel, ex-servicemen and Veer Naris, including initiatives related to healthcare support, pensions, resettlement and skill development.
The Governor also underscored the role of Manipuris in India’s military history, praising their exceptional service in safeguarding the nation’s borders and strengthening national security.
Veterans’ Day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made to uphold India’s sovereignty, unity and democratic values.
The event was attended by MLA Th. Biswajit Singh; Chief Secretary Dr Puneet Kumar Goel; Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh; senior civil and police officers; senior officers of the Armed Forces and paramilitary forces; and a large gathering of veterans and ex-servicemen.
