With two more new deaths, the total number of people who lost their lives due to COVID 19 related cases in Manipur has climbs to 10, official reports said.

Informing this in a press release, Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, the spokesperson of Health department on Friday evening said two males aged 76 years and 28 years from Kangpokpi district and Chandel district respectively expired due to COVID 19.

“They had co-morbid health conditions.The cumulative number of death is 10(ten),”Dr Mangang said.

Manipur reported its first COVID-19 related death case on July 29.

The 56-year-old male patient was from Khongjom, Thoubal district.

Meanwhile the state recorded its highest single-day tally of 249 COVID 19 cases including 165 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), taking the total COVID 19 tally to 3,466 on Friday.

The new COVID19 positive cases were confirmed at various Virus Research & Diagnosis Laboratories.

They are from Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, Tamenglong, Chandel, Bishnupur, Imphal East and Kangpokpi.

Stating that they are being shifted to the COVID care facilities, the release further said that all necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the past 24 hours, 21 persons were discharged from RIMS, COVID care centres of Meitram, Kakching and Kamjong after they were found COVID19 free on RT PCR test, the release said.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 3,466, it added.

The numbers of active and recovered cases are 1530(including 701 CAPF) and 1926 (including 93 CAPF) respectively.

It also appealed to check the spread of COVID 19, everyone should wear a face mask whenever going out of home, maintain physical distance and avoid all non-essential travels.
