Two persons have died due to Covid-19 in Manipur during the past 24 hours with the death toll in the state increasing to 363.

A total of 86 people have tested positive for the virus during the same duration.

A 34-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman died of Covid-19-related complications at JNIMS and RIMS hospitals respectively, a government source said.

The total number of positive cases has reached 28,418, while there are 442 active cases in Manipur at present.

27,613 people have recovered from the disease and the state’s recovery rate is 97.16%.

The ministry of health and family welfare issued guidelines to all states in view of many UK returnees testing positive for the new mutant strain of Covid-19.

The samples of all such passengers are to be sent for confirmatory tests at 10 designated laboratories across the country.

Such patients are to be kept in isolation in single rooms in designated health centres.

The states are also to conduct contact tracing of such patients and isolate and test the people who may have come into their contact.
