With the death of a 75-year-old man from Imphal East, the death toll due to COVID-19 in Manipur rose to 48 while the state’s total tally increased to 8,320 on Wednesday.
It may be mentioned here that the state reported its first death due to COVID-19 on July 29 while the first COVID-19 positive case on March 24.
Meanwhile, 93 persons from the general population and 17 from the central armed police force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-19 cases, COVID-19 Common Control Room said.
They are from eight districts of the state with 14 among them being the returnees from other states while the rest 79 are locals without any significant travel history.
They are being shifted to the COVID care facilities, the release said.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
On the other hand, 103 persons were discharged from 11 COVID Care facilities after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test in the past 24 hours, the release said.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 8,320 while the cumulative number of recovered cases is 6,521, it added. The number of active cases is 1,751. The recovery rate is 78.37 per cent.
So far 3,65,725 people were screened at various entry points of the state while 1,98,837 samples were tested for COVID-19, according to the latest report of the state surveillance officer of the integrated disease surveillance programme.
