Imphal: The victims’ family of the Tronglaobi blast in Manipur’s Bishnupur district has urged the state government to arrest those responsible within five days, stressing that no amount of compensation can replace the lives lost.
The family made this appeal during a media briefing at Raj Medicity, where the injured mother is receiving treatment for serious injuries sustained in the blast.
Around 1 am on April 7, under the jurisdiction of Moirang police station, the blast took the lives of her two children, a five-year-old boy and a five-month-old infant.
The children’s grandmother said that while the government’s financial support is welcome, her priority is justice and an end to the violence. She demanded that those responsible be caught within five days to ensure accountability and prevent such tragedies from happening again.
The family also spoke about the mother’s suffering. Due to her fragile condition, she was not immediately informed about her children’s deaths and only found out through a newspaper, leaving her deeply distressed and affecting her recovery.
The family questioned official claims of improving peace in Manipur, pointing to ongoing incidents of violence. They urged the authorities to take strong action to ensure security and lasting stability in the state.
