Imphal: Manipur Police on Sunday arrested one suspected cadre of the United National Liberation Front -Pambei (UNLF-P) along with a firearm and ammo.

He was allegedly involved in extortion cases, a police report said on Monday.

Based on intelligence input from different sources, a team of Imphal West district police and commandos of the Manipur police commando unit raided a suspected location at Mayang Imphal road under the Imphal West district at around 4 pm on Sunday.

The raid led to the arrest of an active cade of the UNLF (P) identified as Asem Nabachandra Meitei (41).

Further from his possession, the following items were recovered one .32 Pistol along with a magazine and nine live ammunitions.

The arrested person along with the seized items have been handed over to the concerned police station for further action, the report added.

It may be mentioned that the UNLF (P) is currently under peace talks with the governments at the centre and state.

Additionally, the arrest was made a day after the observance of the  ‘Kathokhrabasingee Ningsing Numit’ (Martyrs Day) by the outfit at Nongpok Sanjenbam village.
