Manipur: Two militant hideouts bused in Bishnupur, Imphal

Imphal: Security forces busted two militants’ hideouts during joint operations at specific locations in Bishnupur and Imphal West of Manipur.

During the operation, the forces also recovered a huge cache of arms, ammo, and explosives, police said on Saturday.

According to a report from the Manipur police control room, on specific information, a joint search operation was launched by the Police, Army, and CRPF in the general area of Shantipur Makha Leikai, Imphal West District on Friday.

The retrieved items included a single barrel gun, two 9 mm pistols with two magazines, one 7.62 LMG magazine, three M-67 hand grenades along with detonators, one tube launching, four live round ammunition, 41 empty cases of ammunition and two tear smoke shells.

When the area was starting to cordon off, militants fled from the location leaving behind their weapons.

In another operation conducted at Uyungmakhong, Bishnupur District, the following articles were recovered: One SLR 7.62 mm, six HE 36 grenades, four grenade arm rings, two tear gas grenades, three stinger grenades, five dual shells, six blank cartridges, two WT set (Baofeng), two BP jacket, one IED (improvised local made) 2.3 kg approx and 4 detonators.

The seized articles were handed over to the Manipur police for legal proceedings.
