Imphal: Partly charred bodies of two elderly men were recovered inside burnt houses in Jiribam, Manipur on Tuesday.

According to reports, the bodies were found at the Modhupur near the Jakuradhor Karong under the jurisdiction of the Borobekra police station in the Borobekra Sub-Division of the Jiribam district.

During a joint operation including police and local volunteers, they came across the bodies.

An intensive rescue operation to trace ten missing persons was being conducted in and around the Jakuradhor Karong and Borobekra area.

According to the police, the operation was launched after the suspected suspected militants set ablaze over ten shops and houses in and around said areas on Monday afternoon.

The partly charred bodies of Maibam Kesho, 70, and Laishram Biren, 60, both residents of Modhupur were recovered during the search operations that started launched at 3 am on Tuesday.

Two missing men were also rescued in the operation.

However, six persons – three women and three minors of a family are still missing.

The police said that the operation would go on till the missing persons were found.
